Welcome!
The Data Center is a public facility designed to make available to all researchers, educators and the general public the vast amount of image data obtained by the U.S. Space Program from 1962 to the present. Nearby colleges, schools and research institutions are encouraged to use the center. Group tours can also be arranged.
The Data Center collection contains a wide range of products including: photographic prints, CD-ROMs, microfilms, transparencies, maps, mission support documents, and scientific reference books from the various NASA missions conducted over the past 30 years. Special equipment is available to users including a Power Mac G3 with DVD, CD-ROM, and zip drives, Sun Micro-Systems Ultra10 Stations, a 500Mhz Celeron PC, video cassette and disk players, and a microfilm-fiche viewer. The Brown University/NASA Data Center is located in Room 216 on the second floor of the Lincoln Field Building on the Brown University campus in Providence, Rhode Island. The Brown/NASA Northeast Regional Planetary Data Center is operated as cooperative effort by NASA's Planetary Geology and Geophysics Program and Brown University. The Data Center is part of a network of Regional Planetary Image Facilities (RPIF's) located throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan. NASA images generally are not copyrighted. You may use NASA imagery, video and audio material for educational or informational purposes, including photo collections, textbooks, public exhibits and Internet Web pages. This general permission does not include the NASA insignia logo (the blue "meatball" insignia), the NASA logotype (the red "worm" logo) and the NASA seal. These images may not be used by persons who are not NASA employees or on products (including Web pages) that are not NASA sponsored. If the NASA material is to be used for commercial purposes, especially including advertisements, it must not explicitly or implicitly convey NASA's endorsement of commercial goods or services. If a NASA image includes an identifiable person, using the image for commercial purposes may infringe that person's right of privacy or publicity, and permission should be obtained from the person. |
