Research Areas: Experimental rock mechanics, deformation mechanisms in both crustal and mantle lithologies, structural geology, application of experimental flow laws to geophysical and geological observations, investigation of processes that control the mechanical behavior of rocks using optical and electron microscopy in conjunction with theoretical considerations; physical and chemical properties of rocks and minerals from a material science perspective.
