There will be two field trips for Geology 22. Field trips are an important component to many geology courses as they provide an opportunity to apply what is learned in the classroom.
Our first field trip will be to South Attleboro, MA, where we will examine. sedimentary processes and sedimentary rocks that formed about 300 million years ago when Rhode Island was almost at the equator.
The second will be to Newport, RI where we will examine the rock units along Cliffwalk, a popular walking path along the rocky shore. We will construct a geologic map and infer the geologic history of this area over the past ~600 million years.
There will be more information about both field trips as their dates approach.
Below are some pictures of past field trips.
