In January, 2008, we recovered new piston cores from 7 lakes in the Rwenzori. Cores vary in length from 1.3 to 4.5 meters long, with basal age estimates ranging from a few thousand to perhaps ~10,000 yr BP. The lakes include 3 lakes that currently receive glacial meltwater (Upper and Lower Kitandara Lake, Lac du Speke) and 4 lakes that do not (Mahoma, Upper Kachope, Batoda, Kopello). For more information about these cores, or if you are interested in obtaining sediments, contact James_Russell@Brown.edu
